The mission of the Friends of Buckingham is to protect the natural environment and cultural heritage of Buckingham County.

For over a decade, we have had great successes: We helped to stop the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Learn about our history and join us to stop the looming threats.
Valley Link
The proposed Valley Link transmission line would cut a 200-foot-wide corridor through Buckingham County, threatening farms, forests, property rights, and the health of our communities. Residents across the region are speaking out against this undemocratic and harmful land grab. Together we can make a difference!

Gold Mining
We have the right and the responsibility to protect the health, water, air and land of rural Buckingham and potentially millions of Commonwealth residents along the Virginia Gold-Pyrite Belt and downstream from the well known ravages of industrial gold mining.

Cumberland Gas Plant
For residents of Buckingham and surrounding counties who have spent years living with the environmental and industrial footprint of large-scale energy projects, the Cumberland proposal deepens concerns that rural communities are increasingly facing even greater industrialization and environmental risks as Dominion accelerates its energy buildout.

Industrial Solar
Virginia forests are being destroyed to make way for solar power plants. Thousands of acres have been lost and many more thousands are on the chopping block. Home to countless plants and animals, forests also clean our air and protect our water. The trees, vegetation, and soil of forests are vitally important for a healthy world.
